Argentina in the Paradise of Lawless Capitalism

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) has firmly condemned Trump’s repeated threats to forcibly target the Panama Canal.
The condemnation was nearly unanimous, with just one dissenting voice—unsurprisingly, that of Argentina, led by the self-proclaimed “anarcho-capitalist” Milei, an unwavering supporter of Trump.
The Argentine president is bleeding his economy dry, having slashed nearly all funding for health, education, pensions, and infrastructure, while significantly increasing budgets for the police, military, and surveillance.
Ladies and gentlemen: behold libertarians in power, in all their splendor.
As for the “remarkable efficiency” of these drastic measures, which certain media outlets endlessly praise, I leave you to assess it for yourselves with this graph showing the peso’s evolution against the dollar—now even weaker than when Milei took office in December 2023.
